Next was Kranjska Gora. A stubborn cough made sure I had to put on some extra fighting spirit. I had a hard time getting a good flow in the first run. The first part of the course didn’t go the way I had planned to. After that I felt like I found a nice flow in my skiing.
I recharged between the runs and gave it my all in the second run. I’m glad that I improved!! For sure there is always more to do skiing-wise, but I’m also happy for great turns also!!
Regarding Giant slalom, it feels like many parts are good and in my skiing there are sections where I do a lot of good. There are also technical parts that I need to improve. For example to become more stable position wise and to really try to push the limit better. There are some girls doing it a lot and I’ll also try to find my best in this regard! It’s inspiring to race with all these great women out there. There is always room for improvement.
In slalom, my skiing has been a little more sluggish this year. I have had trouble finding the right position on my skis and several times I have come a little too far behind on my skis. I need to keep working and hopefully get some continuity and continue training!
Watching the race on TV there was a lot of talk about safety at the race and the inspection of the course and a specific part of the course. How did it affect you during the day?
I mostly only focus on skiing as well as I can and I am grateful when the conditions are fair, each race is good and all starters have a good chance! For sure ski racing makes more fun like that and I believe it’s important that we athletes can feel safe to push!
