The season was exciting but also nerve-wracking at times, as I often delivered strong single runs but didn’t always manage to put two solid runs together in the same race – which is what it takes. That’s something I’ll keep working on for next season.
At the same time, I’m proud of my consistency. Except for Sölden, where things didn’t really click. I was never worse than 4th in Giant Slalom, which shows a strong and stable level throughout the year. There were also a couple of moments where I could have improved my inspection and decision-making, including a crash in Åre — but I’m grateful I came out of that safely and took important lessons with me.
In slalom, it didn’t quite come together the way it did last season. The consistency was there, but absolutely not always the speed. Still, I kept pushing, and towards the finals I found some nice turns.
A highlight this season was definitely the Olympic Games. One week before, I was hit by food poisoning, and coming back wasn’t straightforward. As reigning Olympic champion, the pressure was there, and the week before was kind of nerve-wracking! I didn’t stay so calm, but for sure I knew that it was like that! Still, I tried to trust my skiing and managed the situation well. I’m very proud to walk away with another Olympic medal, silver this time tied with Thea. Such a tight race also! That was crazy!
I’m also very happy with the win in Špindlerův Mlýn — a real highlight!
Overall a lot of good skiing and things to improve for the next one coming up!
